Friday roundup: The best crafty DIY blogposts of the week

Hi all, Are you looking forward to the weekend? We'll be wedding venue hunting tonight and on Sunday which is kind of exciting, and kind of boring (is it allowed to say that?). But in between I'm planning on making some lovely things, inspired by some great blog posts that I've spotted this week and I wanted to share with you: 1. Unsurprisingly this time of year, everything seems geared towards Valentine's Day. Now we don't really "do" V-day in our house, but that didn't stop me grabbing some of the gor-ge-ous neon graphic printed paper I grabbed from The Range last week (I spent waaaaaay too much, I'll have to share pics of my haul with you) and turning it into Lia Griffith's adorable heart-shaped paper aeroplane garland . 2. Again, Vally themed, but you could make these envelope liners for any event, be it a party, baby shower or even just a sweet note to a friend - isn't it nice to receive something lovely through the post? I'v...

Favourite crafty blogs: Number One!

It's Mollie Makes ! The website to accompany the UK's most gorgeous craft magazine is a treasure trove of projects, ideas and inspiration. I particularly love their recent feature on "10 ways to use t-shirt yarn" . All the images are fabulously pinnable, and they're very generous with the freebies - from how-tos to desktop wallpaper. All in all, a craft lover's dream!

Favourite crafty blogs: Number Two!

Lia Griffith is a "designer, maker and handcrafted design expert". She's also a goshdarn genius when it comes to running a DIY blog - hers is lushly photographed, inventive, original and easy to understand. Her wedding printables are so gorgeous they actually make me want to get married! head over for inspiration on how to put some luxury into your crafting. And next Christmas I am definitely making a bunch of these gorgeous felt fox present toppers!

Favourite crafty blogs: Number Three!

Poppytalk must be one of the longest running craft blogs on the internet - in fact, they've just celebrated their 10th anniversary with a special online magazine . Their "101 Awesome Weekend Projects to Bookmark" feature should keep you busy from now until Christmas...

Favourite crafty blogs: Number Four!

PS I Made This is perfect for dipping into when you fancy creating something but you're feeling short of inspiration. There are literally hundreds of projects on the site of varying levels of complexity and across a huge range of skills. Brilliant for passing the time during this horrendous so-called Summer weather. I also love the little mood/inspiration board images with each project.

Favourite crafty blogs: Number Five

First up in my daily countdown of my five favourite crafty blogs is the sister act blog A Beautiful Mess . Elsie and Emma share everything from craft ideas and recipes to their amazing room redesigns. They make me want to redecorate sooooooooo bad. Their craft ideas range from the simple ( these gorgeous marbled clay pendants ) to the slightly more labour intensive (I love this macrame yarn garland ) but everything is within the abilities of your average crafty gal (or guy). I definitely also need to buy their photo idea book to get some fresh inspiration.

...Or maybe not

Ohhhhhhhhhhh it's too difficult a choice to make. I like the mobile functionality of WordPress, but when it comes to blogging on an actual computer I far prefer Blogger. What's a girl to do? Any advice would be very gratefully received. In the meantime, as I may have mentioned once or twice, I have been working on lots of new items. Some of them are in my Folksy shop now, and I'll be taking more photographs tonight so there'll be lots more over the next few days. Just to whet your appetite, here's a wee collage I made of some things that have been inspiring me... Clockwise from bottom left: Image by Heather James from her recent exhibition at Cornerhouse Manchester, an image from the ballet exhibition at The Lowry, Salford Quays, which finished last week, The King's Speech, Black Swan And here's a sneak peek of one of my new items which isn't on the website yet - I will be listing it tonight:

Folksy Friday Feature

I've been featured in a lovely Folksy Friday feature over at the Sketch Stitch blog . See!:

Features!

I've been featured in some really exciting places recently, and I thought I should share! First up is Nifty Knits' fabulous blog . Nifty as you might know is the genius behind the knitted meerkats that have become something of a cult phenomenon. The Star Trek meerkats in particular have been featured all over the world and she also has X Men ones, and a cute Valentine's range. As if that's not enough, her blog is also full of brilliant advice for anyone selling on Folksy or Etsy. Thanks Nifty! Second up is the brilliant blog, Found on Folksy . It's the second time they've featured me in the last few weeks and I'm chuffed to bits to have made it onto their pick of the luxury items. Thanks guys! Finally, I'm in another magazine! Yep, my stuff is featured in this month's Making Jewellery: Thanks to everyone who has supported me recently, and of course if you'd like to take a look at my lovely new stock, all you have to do is click here to visit my...

Two of the best

There are some fabulous blogs out there on th'internet - and I've been lucky enough to be featured on two of my favourites recently. Obviously I'm biased because they like my work, but aside, you really should add both of these to your reading list. Found on Folksy is a well established blog run by Glassprimitif and Aleximo Croissant , although how they find the time I don't know. They pick the best of everything from Folksy to showcase, and I was thrilled when I spotted my Pink Sunrise earrings on their latest post. And they're reduced! Newer to the blogging ranks, but just as hard working is EvieGeorge , who when she's not making her absolutely gorgeous gift tags runs Folksy Weddings . It's a one-stop guide for brides who want their special day to have that extra-beautiful handmade touch, and (hurray!) she has featured my Wonderland necklace . Thankyou!

More mentions

Woo hoo! Just found out today that my Christmas romance bracelet has been featured by super-cool shopping blog, Indiespotting. The fabulous Fairytale Christmas exhibition at the Royal Exchange, which features my work, has also been blogged about over at the Visit Manchester blog

Faerie Enchantment

A while ago I posted a picture from a Flickr set called "Vintage Follies" that had inspired my new collection. I sent Lisa who created the pictures a message to tell her how she inspired me and she very kindly offered to put a link on her blog . And what a gorgeous blog it is! A definite must for all lovers of vintage craftiness! You can visit Lisa's blog, Faerie Enchantment, by clicking here . The Vintage Follies collection is, of course, available from my Folksy shop .

I'm On Cuteable!

A little while ago I sent an email to lovely Lynsey at Cuteable , because I had bought some gorgeous bird paintings/embroideries from Natalie's Nook at Folksy and I thought she should know about them. Not only did she include one of Natalie's lovely creations on her blog, she also featured my mesh rose and onyx necklace . Hurray!

Giddy day

I'm feeling quite giddy today. First off I've dicovered two new blogs that I absolutely adore. The first is the adventured of Widget the sock bunny, chronicled daily at Widget's Year - Diary of a Sock Bunny But what's this - no updates for the past few days?! C'mon Widget, I NEED to know what you've been up to! Incidentally you can buy Widget and his pals from The Warren @ Folksy The second discovery is the Domestic Sluttery blog. As a soon-to-be homeowner, I like their style when they say: "Domestic Sluttery is a new way of life. Written by women who cook, decorate and design (usually with a glass of wine close to hand) without giving up our lives. "We want to make your home your own, without doing very much at all." Hell yeah - pretty house, minimum effort? Sounds good to me! I'm also very excited because I'm going to see the stage show of Quadrophenia with my adorable boyfriend tonight, it's my birthday on Thursday and the Churchga...

I've been featured!

Well, three days and still I haven't heard back from my Vintage Charms about my refund. Atrocious. On the plus side however, my fellow Folksy seller Blackberrycrafts has featured my "Breakfast at Tiffany's" necklace in her "Saturday Six" feature on her blog, look: To read her other picks, visit http://blackberrycrafts.typepad.com/
