A wet Wednesday watercolour project to try

I'm actually going to the theatre tonight, so it's more likely to be a soggy Thursday project, but I couldn't resist the alliteration! I fell in love instantly with this dip dyed watercolour stationary project from Paper & Stitch - definitely one for me to have a go at! I have card, but I also have little craft envelopes and TAGS (brilliant!) that would look amazing with this done.

Nine ways to make Project Life cheaper

I’m enjoying making my Project Life album so much, but it’s so easy to spend masses of money on inserts, embellishments and all the other (admittedly gorgeous) bits and bobs. So I thought I’d share some tips I’ve found for lessening the cost of your PL addiction: Table decorations – I found adorable rose pink shiny hearts for £1 in the party section of my local Tesco. Glitter paper – most supermarkets sell glitter paper that you can punch into embellishments in their kids section. Beware however – it’s cheaper, but it’s not necessarily high quality and you could well end up with glitter all over your album. Gold stars – Most stationers sell these in sheets for teachers, and they cost about 50p – far cheaper than “official” scrapbooking ones. Save your scraps - Every time you wrap a present, put the left over bits of paper in a box to create tags and embellishments. Birthday & Christmas cards – Cards received from other people often end up in the bin, but you can e...

My first Project Life album - a sneak peek

So I've been infatuated for a while with the way they present their scrapbooked photos over on A Beautiful Mess . I really liked the clean lines, and the fun little embellishments that they added. Then I learned that it was a thing called Project Life… and now I’m obsessed. The idea is that you complete a spread every week or month – but of course because I’m impatient I couldn’t wait to do that, so I used all my holiday photos that don’t have homes instead. I kinda wish I had waited, because now I’m doing it I think it would be nice to work within that structure, but at the rate I’m going I’ll have filled the binder I have by Christmas, so I can start doing it “properly” next year. So far I’ve spent a Saturday afternoon and a few evenings getting it to a point I’m happy with. My dining table has become a bit chaotic (see above!) and I’ve definitely bought way more stuff than I can afford (damn you Hobbycraft!) but my boyfriend and I are having such a lovely time...

Get more press coverage for your handmade business

Psst.... would you like more press coverage for your handmade business? A few weeks back I  wrote a piece for the Folksy blog on how to do just that - you can read it here:  http://blog.folksy.com/2015/08/18/get-more-press-coverage-for-your-crafts-and-designs

A new project!

I've decided I'm going to start scrapbooking - or more specifically, I'm going to start doing Project Life. I need an excuse to take more photos, and a nice way to display the photos I already have. At the moment I make framed collages... but my walls are rapidly getting very full! I'm so excited for my album to arrive, and I've ordered a couple of card sets - I've tried not to buy too many, but of course that's easier said than done! I'll keep you updated with my progress, but for the time being, enjoy this new Pinterest board I've created to give myself some inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/katdibbits/scrapbook-ideas/
