Made With Love by Kat

As part of my July Jewellery Jubilee, I have been running competitions to win pieces of jewellery, but I know a lot of people are interested in finding out more about turning their own treasures into wearables. I do offer a commission service (of course!), but for those who want to get down to a bit of DIY, I’d recommend French General’s book Treasured Notions. You can read a bit more about the book on the French General blog here – it’s worth checking out their other posts while you’re there, it’s a gorgeous blog and full of inspiration. I have a copy of the book (RRP £16.99) to give away to one lucky blog reader. I tweet about a lot of things – sometimes craft-related, sometimes horse-related and often somewhat foul-mouthed rants about the shocking state of the train service I get. I love Twitter (although not as much as I love Pinterest!) because it’s such a quick, easy and fun way to have conversations with people whose interests are similar to yours, but who you might not otherwise meet. The hangover’s subsided, I’m back at my desk and I’m thinking about my 2013 fashion resolutions. My first resolution is to make use of what’s already in my wardrobes – they’re jam packed as it is. It turns out I’ve already subscribed to one of Spring’s trends – the belted floral dress – completely by accident thanks to the bargain £10 Oasis dress I picked up in the sales. It’s the right length, the right colour and the right floaty fabric – anyone would think I had an innate sense of style or something. I’m less convinced about the trend for collarless blouses – I’m still far too enamoured of the embellished collar I bought from some of our students at work to consider going completely collar free, but I do already have a few silky blouses with v necks that will cover that base. Perhaps I should finally invest in a leather pencil skirt, and so combine with what Marie Claire refers to as “the Helmut Newton effect”, which sounds so much more stylish than the “50 Shades” effect...

Easter time is drawing ever-nearer and I'm feeling extra generous. So after slight diversions for Valentine's chocolate souffle making, I managed to list everyone who had entered my win a bracelet competition... First I wanted to say that I was overwhelmend by how many people entered the competition. I know there were a few people who RTd lots of times and I was really sad that they couldn't all win.
